Course Structure

DBT-U Skills Training is a not to be missed learning in emotional intelligence.

In the skills training group, we teach four skills modules/units:

  1. Core Mindfulness
  2. Emotion Regulation
  3. Interpersonal Effectiveness
  4. Distress Tolerance

Core Mindfulness
You will learn skills that will help you to become aware of what you pay attention to as well as how you pay attention. Western Culture places an emphasis on putting our attention outside of ourselves—on what other people think and feel. Sensitive people may watch other people for cues on how to respond to the world. Core mindfulness skills help you make choices regarding the use of your own mind. We offer the skills to look at habits of your mind as well as new ways to use your mind.

Emotion Regulation
You learn skills that will help you to increase or decrease certain emotions. We teach the components of emotion and we teach the coping skills to regulate your emotions.

Interpersonal Effectiveness
You will learn skills that help you to get your own needs met, attend to how others respond to you, and maintain integrity in your values.

Distress Tolerance

You will learn skills that will help you learn to survive crises. Distress tolerance skills are aimed at surviving crises without making them worse.
